Many people may be unaware of the grants that are currently in place to provide financial aid to those who are helping the environment by driving an electric vehicle. The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) has introduced 2 grants to help drivers save money on their electric vehicle charging unit installation. For domestic charging, there is the EV Chargepoint Grant whilst the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is available for commercial charging.
EV Chargepoint Grant
The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant enables EV drivers to benefit from cost savings towards the purchase and installation of a domestic ChargePoint.
The EV ChargePoint grant for flat owner-occupiers and people living in rented properties provides funding towards the cost of installing electric vehicle ChargePoint’s at domestic properties across the UK. It replaced the Electric Vehicle Home Charge Scheme (EVHS) on 1st April 2022.
This offer is available for:
- Homeowners who live in flats
- People in rental accommodation (flats & single-use properties) Landlords & Social housing providers
- Landlords and housing associations
To be eligible for the grant you must:
- Have dedicated off-street parking.
- Own, lease or have the use of a qualifying vehicle.
- Not have already claimed the grant (either the EV ChargePoint grant or the previous EVHS grant).

WORKPLACE CHARGING SCHEME
The OZEV Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) allows businesses and organisations across the UK to benefit from grant funding towards the purchase and installation of EV charging points.
A total of £350 per socket is available, with businesses and organisations able to adopt up to a maximum of 40 sockets. Businesses and organisations are therefore entitled to up to £14,000 of OZEV grant funding for their workplace.

How To Claim Your WCS OZEV Grant
- Your workplace registers its intention to have an EV charging point installed by visiting the following link: www.apply-workplace-chargepoint-grant.service.gov.uk
- Once the application has been completed and sent, OZEV will review it and inform you by email (usually within 5-7 working days) whether the application has been successful, or whether they require further information.
- If the application is successful, you will be issued with a voucher/ voucher to the value of the application (£350 for a 1way EV charging unit, or £700 for a 2way charging unit. Up to a maximum of £14,000 per workplace).
- Once you have your vouchers, get in touch with us: 01625 569574 / [email protected], we will then source a WCS OZEV/Rolec Approved Installer who will provide you with a full site survey and commence installation when required.
- On completion of the installation hand over the WCS voucher to the installer, who will then claim the value back from OZEV
