Project Overview
Between May and August 2025, we worked with The Challenge Academy Trust (TCAT) to deliver a comprehensive EV charging infrastructure rollout across 13 schools in the Warrington area. As part of a coordinated education sector initiative, the Trust required a reliable and scalable EV charging solution installed simultaneously across all of its sites, with works needing to be completed within a tight timeframe and in full compliance with the requirements of the government grant scheme.
Our Solution
Following an assessment of each site, we recommended and installed ground-mounted EV chargers supported by dedicated distribution boards at every location. Ground-mounted units were the appropriate choice given the variety of site layouts across the Trust’s schools, offering flexibility in positioning while ensuring a clean, robust installation that would serve staff and visitors reliably for years to come.
We also managed the government grant application process on behalf of the Trust, handling the associated paperwork across all 13 sites to ensure TCAT could take full advantage of the funding available through the Workplace Charging Scheme for State-Funded Education Institutions.
The Results
All 13 sites were completed within 16 weeks, a significant logistical undertaking that required careful planning and coordination throughout. Working across live school environments with young children on site presented its own demands, with all personnel required to hold enhanced DBS clearance before works could begin. Groundworks were also carried out across multiple locations as part of the installation, adding further complexity to an already demanding programme.
Despite these challenges, the project was delivered on schedule, leaving The Challenge Academy Trust with a consistent, future-ready EV charging network across its entire estate.
